What is an elopement, anyway?

It’s a chance to give yourselves a wedding experience that feels true to who you are and what matters most to you — not to Pinterest.

Think of this less like a “wedding” and more like a call to adventure: gearing up, exploring a new place, experiencing something new to start this new chapter together.

Whatever you want that to look like —
a slow day of exploring
a barefoot ceremony on the beach
a seaplane flight to somewhere new + wild
a cozy weekend away with your favorite people
a day filled to the brim with new adventures
or a quiet, intimate day somewhere serene
we’re here to help you make it happen.

What We Do

Think of us as your wilderness guides for eloping in the great outdoors. Part photographer, planner, officiant, guide — we help you navigate everything from permits and trail access to weather windows and backup plans.

We’ve helped plan hundreds of elopements across Washington, but no two are ever the same — each experience is entirely tailored around your preferences, abilities, and wishes.

Thinking of eloping in Washington state?

Washington is an iconic elopement destination with SO much to offer, whether you want to hike or keep it low key. Snow-capped mountains, alpine meadows blooming with wildflowers, lush forests covered in moss and ferns, roaring waterfalls, rugged moody coastlines that go on for miles. We’ll go anywhere in Washington, but here are planning guides to our favorite elopement locations:

A couple dressed in wedding attire standing hand in hand on a rocky ledge near a calm lake, with snow-capped mountains in the background and the sun shining brightly in the sky.

North Cascades + Mt. Baker

Our favorite alpine area: rugged, remote, iconic. Turquoise alpine lakes, lush forests, secret fire lookouts, 4x4 forest roads, world-class mountain views. Options for hiking elopements + accessible ceremonies at Artist Point, Heather Meadows, Picture Lake, and more.

A couple, dressed in wedding attire, walking hand-in-hand down a forest trail surrounded by tall trees and lush greenery.

Olympic National Park

Olympic offers incredible diversity: mountains, forest, coastlines, rivers, lakes, waterfalls. Lake Crescent, Hoh Rainforest, Hurricane Ridge, Ruby Beach — just a handful of our favorite spots. Great for “just us” elopements or small groups, and many spots are accessible year-round. Twilight vibes, anyone?

Mount Rainier National Park

Tahoma is simply iconic. An amazing spot for hiking elopements and small groups. Explore old growth forests, roaring waterfalls, blooming wildflower meadows all in one day. Sunrise, Tipsoo Lake, Paradise have lots of great trails and accessible overlooks, and Packwood has a lot of cozy A-frame cabins for your stay.

Let us handle the logistics

Planning an adventure elopement can feel overwhelming and complicated. Weather, conditions, safety, access, permits, contingencies — these are all factors that can make or break your adventure plans.

That’s where we come in — you don’t need to go this alone. We know the ins and outs of Washington state, and we know how important it is to have solid plans in place for a wilderness wedding. We’ve helped hundreds of couples plan adventurous weddings from short hikes and sight-seeing excursions to multi-day backpacking treks in rugged alpine terrain — in every kind of condition and season.

How we help couples navigate the planning

We’ll help guide you through every step of the process:

Picking a date and location that actually works
Hidden gems that offer seclusion & stunning views
Timing for best light & fewest crowds
Peak times for summer wildflowers & fall larch colors
When snow melts in July, what roads close in October

Finding ceremony locations suitable for your guests
How & when to apply for your marriage license
Permit restrictions (or spots that don’t require any)
Timing a hike so you don’t feel rushed (or sweaty)
Crafting solid backup plans — weather, closures, fire

Pivoting day-of around weather, replanning on the fly
Cozy lodging recommendations close to your spot
Helping with guest communications & plans
Vendor recommendations & unique touches
What gear to pack & attire considerations

We’re on it.

You two just focus on your experience and what matters most to you. We’ll help you make it happen.

A couple on their wedding day stands on a large flat rock in front of a waterfall, with their foreheads touching and holding each other.

“Ashton went above and beyond. Not only did he capture every special moment, but he also provided much-needed hot coffee at 6 a.m., bandaids for when a choice to jump off a rock was made, committing to get into Lake Crescent when we decided to jump in. We walked away feeling like we have a new friend in our life, which was icing on top of the cake for our perfect day. Thank you so much!”

— Casey & Jarrett @ Olympic

“They were incredible throughout the planning phase. They were on top of all the nuances of an adventure elopement and kept us up-to-date, including road and weather conditions, leave no trace principles, contingency plans, and more. Wilderpines is top notch and exceeded our expectations.”

— Monica & Nic @ Mt. Rainier
