Best Airbnbs For Your Washington Elopement
Planning an intimate elopement in Washington State and looking for a place to stay?
This article lists my top recommendations for vacation rentals and Airbnbs in Washington state that offer the perfect blend of comfort and charm for an adventure elopement basecamp — plus some tips on booking and planning to make sure it’s a place that will work for your adventure.
Every place on this list has at least a 4.6-star rating on Airbnb — and I’ve photographed elopements at many of them! I’ve spent countless hours researching and photographing around Washington, and I’ve cherry-picked the very best of the best for you and your love.
This list focuses less on big hotels, multi-room lodges, or places with multiple units, and more on privately-owned, one-of-a-kind stays: exceptional views, great vibes, cool architecture and design, secluded locations, thoughtful details and amenities, unique stay experiences, and places that are close to our favorite elopement locations.
Whether you want a luxurious A-frame chalet, an outdoorsy glamping yurt or dome, a cozy treehouse tiny home, there’s something for everyone!
Important: before you book a rental for your elopement
CHECK THE RULES: Always check the “RULES” section of a listing before booking. Some rentals prohibit or require additional fees for commercial photography and/or events, or have an occupancy limit which might affect your plans. On Airbnb, you can find the rules down toward the very bottom of the page, below reviews and host information.
MESSAGE THE HOST: Always message the host about your intended plans and confirm details with your host BEFORE securing your booking. What to include in your message:
What activities you’re using the space for (i.e. getting ready, ceremony, portraits, dinner time, etc.)
If you plan on bringing a professional photographer into the space, and what for
If you plan on bringing any guests over, even if they aren’t staying the night (include how long they’ll be over, event activities, plus how many extra cars/parking spots they would require)
What to look for in a vacation rental for your Washington elopement
As you’re researching a place to lodge, here are a few top things to look for:
Close to your elopement location — most wilderness locations have accommodations around 20-60 minutes away, sometimes more for really remote locations like along deep forest roads
FREE CANCELLATION – VERY HELPFUL if we have to shift plans or change locations
Reliable WiFi — especially where cell service is limited! We always try to touch base before our adventure
Allows commercial photography — if you want us to come photograph you there, we need permission from the host
Lots of natural window light — makes for great photos
Minimal clutter and simple decor — clean backgrounds make for the best getting ready spaces, to keep the focus in the photos on you two!
Space for each of you to get ready — especially if you want to get ready in separate spaces
A few more important tips as you’re planning your elopement travels:
Wait to book a place until you know your exact elopement location — I often book couples before we have an exact place in mind. Helping couples find locations and places to stay is my specialty! Some areas of Washington are really spread out, and places like Mt. Rainier have multiple entrances that are hours apart from each other, so just knowing “Mt. Rainier” is not specific enough to start booking a place to stay.
Book at least 2 nights — never check in or out on elopement day!
Note how far it is from Seattle or wherever you are coming from — and plan accordingly! Some spots like in Olympic may have you taking a ferry; I generally recommend flying in 2+ days before you check into your Airbnb with a buffer day in Seattle then a designated travel day
Getting up for sunrise? Check in 2 nights prior to give yourself more time to get everything ready and get a good night’s sleep (most places offer check in between 3-4 pm which can be tight with the early morning wake up call!)
How to Navigate this list
Already know where you’re headed for your elopement? Click to skip to your location:
1. North Cascades — areas in the northern Cascade mountain region, including Mt. Baker, North Cascades National Park, Mountain Loop Highway, Steven’s Pass, and Snoqualmie Pass
2. Central Cascades & Mount Rainier — areas around Mt. Rainier National Park, Leavenworth, Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest, Lake Chelan, Yakima, Mt. Adams, and the Columbia River Gorge
3. Eastern Washington — areas east of the Cascade mountains, including along the areas east of the Cascades including Palouse Falls, Spokane, the Colville National Forest, and eastern WA’s wine country including Walla Walla
4. Olympic Peninsula — areas on the Olympic peninsula with access to Olympic National Park, including Hurricane Ridge, Hoh Rainforest, Lake Crescent, and the Pacific Olympic coast including La Push & Forks, Rialto Beach, Neah Bay, Long Beach, Westport, and Ocean Shores
5. Seattle, Puget Sound, & San Juan Islands — spots to stay in and around Seattle, plus surrounding metropolitan area and Puget Sound islands: Vashon, Bainbridge, Bremerton, Kitsap Peninsula, Whidbey Island, plus the beautiful San Juan Islands, accessible only by ferry or floatplane!
Fees vary by season/date so I am not included pricing. I cannot confirm availability, though I do generally try to keep this post updated for places that have closed for business.
North Cascades & Mt. Baker
The North Cascades are a huge mountain range that make up a good portion of western Washington, north of Mount Rainier all the way up to the Canadian border — from Artist Point to North Cascades National Park to Leavenworth and everything in between.
It is hands down my favorite region to take people for adventure elopements: rugged and remote, turquoise alpine lakes, lush forests, world-class mountain views. It’s a place for people who really want a proper adventure — though there are some easy-to-reach spots that can accommodate groups, including the fabulous Artist Point or Washington Pass.
For best alpine conditions, pick a date between late July and early October — or consider a winter elopement if you want to snowshoe!
If you want to know more about how to elope in the North Cascades, we have a whole guide for that here: North Cascades Elopement Guide

Mount Rainier/Tahoma
If you’re making a trip here, you can’t leave out a stay at this iconic national park! You might know this mountain by the name Rainier, but that isn’t its original name. The Puyallup tribe gave it the name Tahoma which means “the Mother of Waters”, and they revere her for the many life-giving waters which flow from her peak. It was then re-“named” by British explorer Captain George Vancouver after his friend Peter Rainier, a British admiral… who battled against the United States in the Revolutionary War. So, uh… maybe let’s consider going back to her original, way-cooler (and way more respectful) title.
Tahoma is Washington’s tallest peak, sitting at 14,411 feet, with views so iconic it’s on our license plates. It’s also one of five active volcanoes in Washington!
While you’re here, hike through old-growth forests, marvel at cascading waterfalls, catch glimpses of wildlife roaming free, then drive up to Paradise or Sunrise and immerse yourself in the breathtaking beauty of the resplendent Tahoma. In July through late August, enjoy the brilliant wildflower blooms in the alpine meadows! In winter, strap on your snowshoes to explore snowy trails around Paradise, or ski or board over at White Pass. For even more of a thrill, consider booking a guided climb to the summit!
Where to stay for Mt. Rainier & White Pass:
Year-round: Ashford provides the best access to the Nisqually and Paradise areas of Mt. Rainier National Park, which are generally open year-round.
Summer: Packwood provides the best access to Sunrise area of Mt. Rainier, and is reasonably close to Paradise as well.
Winter: If you’re looking to ski at White Pass, stay in Packwood. If you’re looking to spend time snowshoeing in Paradise at Mt. Rainier, opt for Ashford.
Our favorite adventures: Skyline Loop Trail and/or Panorama Point, Myrtle Falls, Reflection Lake, Comet Falls, Christine Falls, Mount Fremont Lookout, Tipsoo Lake, Naches Peak, Rampart Ridge, guided summit tours, snowshoe at Paradise, ski at White Pass
