Jason & Abigail's Sunrise Elopement at Picture Lake & Artist Point

Field Notes: Artist Point — Mt. Baker Wilderness

Jason and Abigail chose Artist Point for its wild beauty and scenery — this place is truly so fitting for an adventure elopement. They knew they wanted a magical moment in the mountains and quality time together but also wanted to incorporate their loved ones with a ceremony and time to celebrate, so we helped them find spots that would let them have a little of both.

They started their morning adventure up here at Artist Point in the hours before dawn, hiking out then having a special first look moment right at the sun peeked over Mount Shuksan (my favorite mountain in all of Washington). As the sun rose they sat down and shared their handwritten vows with each other, surrounding on all sides by wilderness which just made everything feel highly intimate.

(Sunrise here is incredible — peak views without the peak crowds — and if there are people around we know a few quiet spots that can offer privacy)

After this morning “just us” adventure we met up with their family for a group ceremony at Picture Lake, an accessible spot only a few miles away with more stunning views of Mount Shuksan. They incorporated a handfasting ritual — where “tying the knot” comes from! — and ended the ceremony with bubbles and cheers. After that — back to the cabin in Glacier for a pajama party, brunch toasts, and more celebrations!
