Adventure elopements anywhere in Washington state — Mount Rainier, Olympic, North Cascades and beyond

Wilderpines is a Washington elopement photographer and planning team helping couples create intentional, stress-free elopements across the state. From Mount Rainier and Olympic National Park to the North Cascades and Washington’s wild coastline, we help you plan and document an adventure that feels true to you.

What is an elopement, anyway?

It’s a chance to give yourselves a wedding experience that feels true to who you are and what matters most to you — not to Pinterest.

Think of this less like a “wedding” and more like a call to adventure: gearing up, exploring a new place, experiencing something new to start this new chapter together.

Whatever you want that to look like —
a slow day of exploring
a barefoot ceremony on the beach
a seaplane flight to somewhere new + wild
a cozy weekend away with your favorite people
a day filled to the brim with new adventures
or a quiet, intimate day relaxing somewhere serene
we’re here to help you make it happen.

Elopement planning doesn’t have to be complicated

Planning an elopement isn’t as stressful or complex as a big wedding, but it can still feel overwhelming. You don’t need all the answers — just focus on what kind of experience you want and I’ll help with the logistics to make it happen.

Even if right now all you know is that you want to elope, that’s the perfect place to start.

Step 1: Pick a spot (together)

Not sure exactly where you want to elope? No problem. Tell me what kind of scenery or vibes you want. I’ll help recommend spots that fit your vision.

Step 2: Time it right

I’ll help you time it right at your location — we’ll talk seasonality and scheduling, and I’ll help you plan a timeline around the best light + privacy, and make sure your day doesn’t feel rushed.

Step 3: Let me handle the logistics

I’ll help with: Locations | Permits | Timeline planning | Activities | Vendor lists | Backup plans | Ceremony | Unique touches | Gear lists | Final prep

What We Do

We’re a small team of photographers based in Seattle, with passions for human connection, mindfulness, and outdoor adventure.

Think of us as your experts on all things elopement — part guide, planner, photographer, and officiant, here to help you plan the elopement of your dreams from start to finish.

We’ve helped plan hundreds of elopements across Washington state, but no two are ever the same — each experience is entirely tailored around your preferences, abilities, and wishes.

Here’s a behind-the-scenes look at how we help couples elope:

Why Washington Is One of the Best Places to Elope

Washington has SO much to offer for adventure elopements — snow-capped mountains and alpine meadows blooming with wildflowers, lush old growth rainforests covered in moss and ferns, roaring waterfalls and rivers fed by glacial waters, and rugged, moody coastlines that go on for miles. We’ll help you find the perfect spot.

North Cascades + Mt. Baker

Our favorite alpine area in WA: rugged, remote, iconic. Turquoise alpine lakes, lush forests, world-class views. Options for hiking elopements + accessible ceremonies. Limited access: aim for July-Oct for best alpine conditions.

Olympic National Park

Incredible diversity of scenery: mountains, forest, coastlines, rivers, lakes, waterfalls, all in one park. Great for “just us” elopements or small groups. Year-round accessibility makes this an incredible place to elope.

Mount Rainier National Park

Great for hiking elopements + group ceremonies. Great diversity: mountains, meadows, forests, waterfalls. Limited access — aim for July-Oct for clear alpine access, or winter wonderland elopements in Feb-Mar.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • We recommend booking 6–9 months in advance, or closer to 9-12 for popular peak season summer and fall dates. Planning ahead gives us the best options for permits, travel, and location options.

We do occasionally take on last-minute elopements (within ~1-3 months) — feel free to reach out for our availability.

  • Any! While seasonality is a big part of planning, there are lovely options year-round here. Best alpine conditions are July through early October. Wildflowers bloom in July and August. If you want moody vibes, aim for spring, fall, or winter. Low-elevation spots like the rainforests and coasts are suitable year-round.

  • Absolutely! We specialize in helping couples pick the perfect location(s) based on scenery, accessibility, privacy, logistics, and travel needs.

  • Not at all. Hiking is optional. Around half our elopements include hiking—but others feature scenic drives, cozy cabins, boat rides, picnics, or barefoot beach ceremonies. We’ll shape the day to fit your vibe.

  • Many public lands do require a permit—especially national parks and state-managed wilderness. Permit fees are usually $50–300. We’ll help walk you through the process.

  • Officiants: We offer complimentary officiant services for no-guest elopements, or you’re more than welcome to bring a loved one or hire a pro. (Your officiant will not count toward your guest count.)

We can also sign as legal officiant while a friend leads the ceremony symbolically—no ordination needed.

Witnesses: You need two witnesses to sign your marriage license. No guests? No problem. We’ll find friendly strangers on the trail or pop into the visitor center before we file. If we’re not officiating, we can be a witness.

  • Yes—with some limits. We specialize in intimate elopements with ~10 guests max, and we’ll help manage logistics if you do.

Pet rules vary by location; we’ll help you figure out what’s allowed and what’s safe for your furry companion.

  • This is the Pacific Northwest—we’re ready for it. Rain, fog, snow, sun: we embrace it all. That said, if weather becomes unsafe or inaccessible (wildfire, closures, etc.), we’ll pivot with a solid backup plan. Contingency planning is built into what we do.
