What’s it’s like to elope with us

  • Yes—we’re photographers. And yes, we care deeply about creating beautiful images. But the heart of what we do is the experience. Your elopement isn’t a photoshoot—it’s a chance to be present, grounded, and intentional with each other.

We believe the best photos come from truly great experiences: time to slow down, explore, connect, and say your vows in a way that actually feels like you. Our role is to help create that space, then document it honestly.

Our photography approach is story-driven and gentle. We’ll offer guidance when it’s helpful, prompts when you need them, and space when you don’t. Rather than stiff posing, we focus on natural movement, connection, and presence—meeting you where you’re at and letting the day unfold.

Much of what we capture happens in between: candids, transitions, scenery, weather, details, and the quiet moments you might not even notice at the time. Portraits are part of the story, but never the whole thing. The result is imagery that feels lived-in, timeless, and deeply personal—because it’s rooted in a real experience, not a performance.

  • Adventure doesn’t have to mean hiking—but it can.

About half of the elopements we photograph involve some amount of hiking; others are more relaxed and lodge-based, or a mix of both. Some couples backpack into the wilderness. Others splurge on a cozy cabin, soak in a hot tub, and explore scenic spots nearby. You don’t have to choose between adventure and luxury: there are ways to treat yourself with both. Our favorite adventures feel like part expedition, part wellness retreat.

There’s no “right” way to do this. During the planning process, we’ll get to know your comfort level, interests, and energy—and only suggest locations and activities that actually suit you.

  • Think of us less like traditional wedding planners and more like a combination of:

    • travel guide

    • idea generator

    • local area expert

    • creative consultant

    • calm, steady presence on the day itself

We’ll help shape the experience, offer recommendations, and guide you through logistics—but your elopement is always a collaboration. You bring your vision; we help refine it and make it workable.

You’ll also receive access to our Field Guide to Adventure Elopements, which includes:

    • a planning roadmap

    • worksheets to clarify your vision

    • travel guides for Washington & the PNW

    • vetted vendor recommendations

    • attire and packing guidance

    • timeline ideas, ceremony readings, and more

It’s designed to keep you grounded and supported without overwhelm.

  • We guide couples through three stages of planning:

Path (roughly 12–6 months out) — Big-picture dreaming. Before you book anything, we’ll focus on how you want the day to feel and what kind of experience you’re drawn to.

Plan (roughly 9–3 months out) — We map out the itinerary, locations, and logistics—travel timing, permits, timelines, vendors, and details.

Prep (final 1–2 months) — Final checklists, weather plans, gear prep, marriage licensing, and contingency planning—so you can arrive feeling ready, not frazzled.

  • We plan elopements around Washington’s seasons, weather patterns, and crowd flow — not a generic calendar.

Whether you’re dreaming of alpine lakes, wildflowers, moody forests, or snow-dusted peaks, we’ll help you choose a date and location that actually delivers the experience you’re imagining.

    Here’s a quick guide:

    • Alpine & mountain access: mid-July–early October

    • Wildflowers & reflective lakes: late July–August

    • Waterfalls & forests: spring through early summer

    • Fall color & larches: late September–early October

    • Quiet, moody PNW vibes: late October–May

  • Nature is unpredictable—and that’s part of the magic. It’s also why we build Plan A, B, and C.

We’ll identify alternate locations, timelines, and routes ahead of time, and if we need to pivot, we’ll take the lead so you don’t have to stress or make decisions on the fly.

Flexibility is baked into the experience.

  • We are true specialists in the world of elopements, which are fundamentally different than weddings. We’ve seen elopements start to lose their form and turn into a tiny wedding—running around doing all the decor yourself, fending off unwanted comments from family, herding cats from spot to spot. Instead of enjoying the adventure, you ended up hosting an event.

We will be ruthless about preserving this intention, and that starts and ends with boundaries: yours, and ours. We don’t do events at venues, or anything with more than 10 guests.

  • Outdoorsmanship and  stewardship are core to what we do, especially if we want to keep doing it in the years to come. We’ll help coach you on how to have an eco-friendly Leave-No-Trace elopement, and offer sustainable choices as you plan your travels.

(Yes, it’s possible to get photos amid wildflowers without killing them. Yes, we can stay on trail and still get amazing shots.)

  • When eloping, less is more. Keep it simple, borrow from us instead! We’ve got a whole locker full of elopement-ready gear, supplies, and décor.  Whether you need rugged ultralite options for a hiking elopement or more elegant selections for a relaxing luxury picnic, we’ve got you covered.

A great plus if you’re visiting from out of town—save room in your luggage, plus avoid an extra shopping trip for a bunch of single-use items you’ll likely never use again. A really simple and sustainable way to make your elopement day that much more special.

    • We take on elopements with 0–10 guests

    • We provide guidance and recommendations, but you book your own travel, lodging, and vendors

    • We don’t manage vendor contracts or make reservations on your behalf

    • Officiant services are included for “just us” elopements — If you’re inviting guests, officiating is available with Crew Support, or you’re welcome to bring your own officiant

  • Once we’ve confirmed a date and general plan, we’ll send over a contract and invoice.

    Our payment plan:

    • 40% retainer due at booking to reserve your date

    • 30% due midway between booking and your elopement

    • 30% due two weeks before your elopement date

All payments are handled securely through our online client portal. Ask us about monthly or other flexible payment plans.

What Happens Next

STEP 1

Get in touch

Reach out through our contact form to start the conversation. Share whatever you have — a date, a season, a place you love, or just a feeling about how you want the day to feel. You don’t need to have anything fully figured out yet.

STEP 2

Let’s talk

We’ll set up a call to get to know you, talk through your ideas, and explore what’s possible. During this conversation, we’ll help narrow down a date and general location that make sense for your vision, the season, and logistics — and if it feels like a good fit, we’ll get you officially booked.

let's get started

STEP 3

Let’s adventure!

Think of us as your unofficial adventure guides, with you every step of the way from planning to the big day: from timeline tips to permits to packing lists, we’re here to help you make this the adventure of a lifetime!

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • We recommend booking 6–12 months in advance to allow enough time for thoughtful planning. Peak season dates (July–October) book quickly, and some locations require early reservations—so 9–12 months out is ideal if you’re aiming for peak season.

  • Our payment plan:

    • 40% due at booking

    • 30% due midway

    • 30% due two weeks before your elopement

If you’d prefer monthly payments or need a different structure, just ask—we’re happy to be flexible.

  • Absolutely. You’re welcome to bring your own officiant, or have a friend or family member lead the ceremony. We’re happy to share officiant resources if they’d like help getting ordained.

If you want a loved one to lead symbolically, we can also sign as the legal officiant and take care of the paperwork.

  • Yes—Washington requires two witness signatures on your marriage license. No guests? No problem. We’ve never had trouble finding two friendly strangers along the way.

  • Possibly—we’ll let you know what your chosen location requires and guide you through the process.

    As a general rule:

    • National & state parks: permits usually required

    • National forests: often not required

Permit fees typically range from $50–$300, depending on location.

  • Of course—this is one of our favorite parts of planning. As local experts, we’ll help narrow down locations based on your vision, comfort level, accessibility needs, seasonality, crowd tolerance, and travel logistics.

  • Hiking is totally optional—about half of our elopements involve hiking, but many don’t. Adventure can look like a short walk, scenic overlooks, off-roading, paddling, picnicking, stargazing, or simply settling into one beautiful place and taking your time.

There are also plenty of accessible locations throughout Washington. If you or your guests have mobility or health considerations, we’ll recommend options that work for everyone—no compromising the experience. We can also design a multi-part day if you want variety without pushing limits.

  • Nature is unpredictable—and that’s part of the magic. It’s also why we plan ahead.

We build Plan A, B, and C options into every elopement, including alternate locations, timelines, and routes. If conditions become unsafe or a location isn’t accessible, we’ll take the lead on pivoting so you don’t have to stress or make decisions on the fly.

Flexibility is baked into the experience.

  • You’ll receive a handful of sneak peeks within two weeks (usually within 1-3 days), followed by your full-resolution, edited gallery within 90 days.
